Friday morning, Starbucks opened in Lyon its first coffee shop outside Paris, where 40 shops have already been launched during the past four years. We can find this shop at the beginning of the Republic Road, in the face of Opera, two steps of the Metro A.
I am not a fan of Starbucks, but I was happy when I read the news of its opening in Lyon in <20 Minutes>. In fact, I have a special affection for Starbucks Coffee because it often brought me with pleasant memories of the past time. When I was in China, there were times that I met my friends quite often there. We like to see each other in Starbucks simply because it provided us a good atmosphere and a well organized space. Moreover, in comparison with their good French counterparts, the American chain stores are rarely bourgeois. I went to Starbucks this morning, two days after its opening in Lyon. There were so many people, in a Sunday morning¡ I am used to drink a cup of hot Caff¨¨ Latte or Cappuccino in winter, but I took Espresso this morning. Conclusion? If you want to drink a little Espresso or short coffee, it¡¯s better to find it in a traditional French coffee shop than here. Yet Starbucks always remains a pleasant place in Lyon. In a world of globalization, sometimes the big chain stores give us a sense of security and will collect for us the good memories spread in different corners of the world¡isn¡¯t it? At least, I feel good this morning when I spend a quarter time in Starbucks.
